Cleto Chiarli & Co. is a distribution project set in place to valorise the companies linked to the family alongside other outstanding names which share our values.

The name QUINTO PASSO  ('fifth step') is a reference to the journey travelled so far by the Chiarli company. It is the winery's crowning glory and celebration of the people involved in its making. This wine, produced using the traditional method, pays homage to the fifth generation, the five cousins - Carlo, Giorgio, Stefano, Giovanni, and Tommaso - whose contribution to the family businesses is increasing with time.

Lastly, QUINTO PASSO represents the fifth step in the research and quality control process that began in 1860 with the creation of the first winery dedicated to in-bottle production using natural fermentation (ancestral method).

The Santa Croce Estate is made up of 60 hectares (148 acres), 30 of which planted with vines (74 acres), and is one of the most important of the area. The grape varieties produced include almost all those recognised by the rules concerning wine production in the Colli Bolognesi (the hills south of Bologna). They have the peculiar characteristic of being located in different altitudes (from 100 to 250 meters above sea-level), and therefore perfect to obtain both delicately scented whites and well-structured intense reds.

The Azienda Agricola Ferrucci, established in 1932, has been led with the love and dedication taught by the past generations. The vineyards, all owned by the Ferrucci family, cover about 15 hectares on hills, in one of the best areas in Romagna for the production of wines. The Company has always had the self-imposed rule of using only grapes produced on their property, which provides an uncompromised way to quality. In recent times there has been a hard programme on new choices of clones and implants to further improve the quality of the grapes. As a result, the wines produced have begun to be known even abroad and have obtained important prizes.

Apart from quality wines, Cleto Chiarli also sells other delicacies from the Modena area, which are known all over the world as true treasures of Italian cuisine.

Aceto Balsamico di Modena (Balsamic Vinegar of Modena)

This is the best-known and most appreciated vinegar in the world. Its taste has a perfect balance between sweet and sour, ideal to improve even the best recipes. Of its two different kinds, the IGP ones, which can be found in the labels ‘Gran Sigillo’, ‘Sigillo’and ‘Bollino Oro’, is especially recommended for an every-day use. The DOP kind, called ‘Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena’, is to be taken as precious nectar, only to be consumed in very small quantities to greatly improve vegetables, fruit salads, puddings and even ice-cream.
